Basic directions of research activities of department:
- experimental investigations of fatigue fracture resistance of structural steel and aluminum alloy welded joints on the stages of crack initiation and propagation at harmonic and polyfrequency types of loads;
- development of structural and technological treatments of welded joints with the purpose of increasing their fatigue life;
- development of experiment-calculated methods for evaluation of cyclic crack resistance of welded joints on the stages of fatigue cracks’ stable growth taking into account application of proposed methods of their inhibition;
- development of methods and criteria of non-linear fracture mechanics applicable to evaluation quasi-brittle and taught fracture resistance of structural metal welded joints taking into account non-uniformities of their mechanical properties and high residual tensions.
